Named for Combat Outpost Khenjakak.
KJK Group takes its name from Combat Outpost Khenjakak in Afghanistan, where I served as the executive officer of an infantry company. The XO's job is the one nobody notices until something goes wrong: keeping every soldier equipped, fed, and supplied, every single day.
That job runs on details. You have to know exactly what you have, what's coming in, and what's about to run out, because only a complete, accurate picture lets you make the right call. The details matter. But what I learned at Khenjakak is that the details only get handled when someone does the unglamorous work, every day, with grit and consistency, and makes sure it gets done right.
When I started this company, I wanted a name that would keep that standard in front of me. Khenjakak became KJK. The mission looks different now, but the job is remarkably similar: run the back office so the people out front can do their work. Get the details right, keep a complete and honest picture of where the business stands, and handle the work that keeps everything moving.
